Accessibility
We are committed to producing an accessible website to support our learners’ needs. This page describes some of the features that have been included into this site.
We have followed relevant standards and good practice for accessibility and usability whilst developing our website, including the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Our website conforms to the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Double-A (WIA-AA) standard.
Some units on the website are designed to be accessed by registered users only.
Text Size
All text on the site can be resized using your web browser's own controls or directly from our college website homepage. Also, the body text is set to be relative to your browser's default text size, to increase the chance that it will be easier for you to read.
If you feel the text size is not ideal, we have instructions on changing your browser to set a comfortable text size.If you require text to be larger, use the text size controls built into your web-browser (the software you view web pages with). To access these controls, perform the following actions:
Internet Explorer 5, 5.5, 6
Select 'View' from the menu bar at the top of your browser
Move down the menu box, until you reach the option labelled 'Text Size'.
A further menu will appear from which you can select the text size you require.
Mozilla and Netscape 6+
Select ‘View’ from the menu bar at the top of your browser
Move down the menu box until you reach the option labelled ‘Text Zoom’
A further menu will appear from which you can select the zoom level you require.
Firefox
Select ‘View’ from the menu bar at the top of your browser
Move down the menu box until you reach the option labelled ‘Text Size’
A further menu will appear from which you can increase or decrease the size of your text.
Repeat the above steps to increase or decrease the size further.
Opera
Select ‘View’ from the menu bar at the top of your browser
Move down the menu box until you reach the option labelled ‘Zoom’
A further menu will appear from which you can zoom in or out by the amount you select. This option will increase the visual size of images as well as text.
Netscape Communicator 4.7
Select ‘View’ from the menu bar at the top of your browser
Move down and select either “Increase Font” or “Decrease Font” to increase or decrease text size respectively.
Pictures
Generally, when a picture is attached to a webpage, it slows down your page downloading time. Therefore, we decided to either limit the number of pictures to be displayed on our website or convert them to web-friendly versions.
